A sequel that takes the exact same plot of the original, except that now it's a British [guy] exchange student falling for a tough American [girl]. Hardly original, and that goes for the rest of the movie as well. The songs are flat and unmemorable, the performances not particularly good, and yet. . .there is something compelling about it. Some ineffable something that keeps you watching, like eating potato chips even while knowing they are unhealthy. Whether it's the shared guilt of viewing an embarassing movie that's made it a cult item, or what, who knows? Give it a shot and share the guilt!! See also Grease (1978). |
