| Captain Bligh, determined to make a name for himself, pushes his ship and crew to the point of mutiny on an expedition to Tahita to secure Bread fruit. A deeply flawed film, but the experience of watching it really gives no indication of the madness that went on behind the scenes. Enjoy it for the gorgeous 2.76:1 Technicolor beauty it is. The film features a fully functional replica of the original ship which survived the movie only to succumb to hurricane Sandy on 29 October 2012, taking with it Claudene Christian, a descendent of the original mutineer. Thomas Hayward is played by Alan Callow (I have the costume test photo to prove it!) |
