An assortment of scientists is called in to check out a mysterious object in the basement of a church. Although some of the technobabble is a bit thick, there's intelligence at work here which makes a nice change in a horror flick. Possibly the most underrated of the Carpenter filmography. By turns funny and scary, this homage to British writer Nigel Kneale is a gem. |
