| Extremely violent and amoral for its day this tale of a gangster with no redeeming features. Pity Muni plays it so dumb, but this is more than made up for by stylish adrenaline-rush directing and editing. Vince Barnett and George Raft are terrific sidekicks and both get great 'curtains'. Compare and contrast with DePalma's remake. Recommended. |
