Secret Agent Super Dragon

New York chiama Superdrago
[New York Calling Superdragon]

Secret society attempts to take over the world using mind-control chewing gum and Ming vases. . .or something like that. It's up to Bryan Cooper, aka Super Dragon, to foil them!

Enjoyable low-rent Eurospy film is much better than the horrible reviews and low rating on IMDb would indicate. This is largely due to its appearance on Mystery Science Theater 3000, a funny show, but one which has encouraged people into thinking any film that appears there is automatically worthless. This tendency is as bad in it's own way as the Medveds' witless Golden Turkey books. The fact that the film used is usually a badly dubbed pan & scan copy that's missing a large part of the run time (in this case, almost the entire ending!) so they could cram in host segments and commericals is also unfortunate, especially when so many of the jokes are about the plot making no sense. Meh.

That all being said, this is no classic; the plot is muddled, to say the least, and Superdragon is even more of a smarmy sexist pig than was the norm for this sort of film. Considering Danton dubbed himself, his performance is not good. And Jess Hahn's character is just stupid. But it does have Marisa Mell. . .

IMDb credits, as always for non-American films of this era, are inaccurate. Pinkas Braun, for example, is nowhere in this (probably mistaken for Herlin). Corrections made where I could, but any knowledgable help would be appreciated on the unknowns!
