Tale of a British spy in deep cover as a German general in World War Two.

Mediocre war thriller that suceeds mainly on the excellent performances of Hawkins and Aylmer as his handler. Knox and Underdown also seem to relish the chance to play such despicable characters. The main problem is there is not enough character development in the script, only a scenario which the audience is supposed to feel invested in. The cast tries hard, and Matheson's score tries vainly to generate a sense of urgency, but there is little to be had.

Supposedly based on the exploits of Colonel Alexander Scotland, who served in the German Army in the early 1900s under the name Schottland. All resemblance to the film story ends there, and the text at the beginning comes across as yet another instance of self-congratulatory film industry BS.
