From circus girl to laundress to much admired dancer... Oddly bittersweet fable wherein the leading lady doesn't get the guy but perhaps that's no loss as he is an ass, but does at least become famous.Josephine Baker is a very competent actress, far better than the material and one regrets that she didn't do more film work. The shadow dancing routine is fab. |
