The third and final installment in the trilogy and Frodo must complete his quest to deliver the One Ring into the fires of Mount Doom. But the closer he gets the more dangerous the mission becomes. Can he truly trust Gollum to not betray him; and how about Sam? Whilst they make their way to the end of the journey they are assisted elsewhere by the remaining members of the Fellowship who battle the forces of evil to prevent the domination of Middle Earth.

It became only the second movie sequel in the history of the Academy Awards to win the Best Picture Oscar.

I was disappointed when I saw this at the cinema. Not because it was bad, but because there wouldn't be another to look forward to...Perhaps too many hobbits looking lovingly at each other in the last half-hour. Still, the three films taken together, methinks, will be the greatest cinematic achievement in my lifetime. REALLY loaded four disc extended version - 50 extra minutes, folks.
