| While in the slammer, the Marquis de Sade pens the tale of two sisters forced to make their way in the world, orphaned and more or less penniless. To say Justine has a bad day would be an understatement as she flees a house of sin only to get involved in theft and murder and finally taken in by a religious sect, which would be fine but for Jack Palance being their spiritual leader. Fairly coherent by Franco standards in glorious colour but perhaps too mild to satisfy exploitation genre fans. The Blue Underground DVD contains a 20 minute interview with Jess Franco and Harry Alan Towers in which they discuss the film warts and all. |
