| Planet Pandora. A group of scientists try to coerce an indigenous population to move so as to enable a mining operation. To do this they use Avatars - cloned human/Pandoran hybrids controlled by thought - to put the natives at ease. Although borrowing somewhat from other sources, Soldier Blue meets Alan Dean Foster's Midworld, Cameron has assembled an eye-popping visual feast with an eco friendly message. Glorious in IMAX 3-D Re-release contains an extra 9 minutes of footage including:A scene in a derelict schoolroom on Pandora. A buffalo hunt. The love scene is a smidgen longer. Tsu'Tey gets an epiphany. Most significant is an early scene when the Pandorans get a little payback which does change the tone a little, because without it the attack on home tree is more of a gut punch. Interesting. |
