Enjoyable screwball comedy is qutte well done, especially considering it was made as a 'quota quickie.' Production values are on par with an A-list film, especially the miniature work. Wakefield and Hartnell make an amusing pair of criminals (they would have made a great Raffles and Bunny), and Crawford is charming as the leading lady. Stewart's character, unfortunately, is an amazingly obnoxious dolt, and it's hard to comprehend why Crawford married him, let alone stays with him. This tends to undermine things a bit. Charles Victor's American accent appears to have been borrowed wholesale from a Dead End Kids matinee. Any film that scores the climatic chase with Raymond Scott's 'Powerhouse' deserves an extra star, though!
