| 1978: Private eye is hired to find a missing person but becomes embroiled once more in the affairs of an old flame. One admires the sentiment to have a crack at a Deep South film noir in this day and age but this one falls short. Good to see Travolta, Freeman, Janssen and Stormare on screen and especially a nice turn as a seedy doctor from Brendan Fraser. Undone by bland plotting, lack of thrills and an awful lot of anachronisms. |
