Rather strained start to 12 years of puppet shenanigans, but the level of general rudeness and bad taste, not to mention those fantastic puppets, made this irresistable TV.

The story goes that Prince Philip was opening Central TV's Nottingham studios that week, and the Spitting Image folk were told to go easy.
