Drake is enlisted by an old enemy to help prevent exiles from killing the leaders of Baravia, who are visiting London. But is it really the exiles he needs to worry about, or a threat closer to home? Martin Miller's jolly mad bomber is the standout in this one, another in a long series of assassination plots Drake must foil. Ripper's very Gaelic-sounding Torres is a nice touch, as well. "The Lovers" is obviously based on the Perons of Argentina, albeit with a nice twist. Argentina has a very large Irish population. -Dave W. |
