Intense British charactor actor, always believable. Pulled off a NY cop playing opposite a cartoon bunny so well, that fooled many Americans. Tour-de-force in The Long Good Friday and Pennies From Heaven.
Wiki says his first acting job was in Romeo & Juliet in 1968 but I've espied him in panto, Dick Wittington in 1966/67.
