Tim Burton's stylish resurrection of the Dark Knight with production design to die for and packed with the director's trade marked quirkiness and a mixed-bag soundtrack from Danny Elfman and the-artist-formerly-known-as-Prince.
Burton said of this film "I liked parts of it, but the whole movie is mainly boring to me. It's OK, but it was more of a cultural phenomenon than a great movie." Vital evidence that the artist is perhaps the worst judge of their own work, as this is easily his best film, lacking in the obnoxious pretension that marks every other film he has made. Some directors do need some studio control. See also: Batman Returns (1992), Batman Forever (1995), Batman & Robin (1997) |
