A small run down hotel in Louisiana plays host to a series of supernatural incidents after the new owner takes over. Little does she realise the building stands on what was one of the entrances to Hell, which is still accessible through the waterlogged basement.

Many horror fans regard this as one of Fulci's finest works. This was one of the few controversial movies which appeared on the notorious Video Nasties list. It was finally re-released uncut in 2001.
