EyeForFilmThree elderly friends at a Florida retirement home take advantage of a disused indoor swimming pool next door to their lodgings. However, this daring privelege is cut short when a group of not-altogether-human beings start renting the building so they can store the large cocoons they have retrieved from the bottom of the ocean.
A feel-good movie which does no harm to watch, and although some may consider it to be an old people's film, it is clear to see Ameche, Brimley and Cronyn look so 'natural' together on screen.
The film produced a surprise Academy Award win for actor Don Ameche. ~ Lord Heath

Endings a bit icky, but otherwise pleasing sci-fi romp from Ron Howard with a delightful cast of veteran scene stealers. ~The Sloth

Most of the princiapl cast returned three years later in the so-so sequel, Cocoon: The Return.
