The simian saga started here in this adaptation of Pierre Boulle's novel, Monkey Planet. Brilliantly directed by Franklin J. Schaffner who succeeds in keeping the audience off-balance throughout. Then there's Charlton Heston's full-of-piss-and-vinegar astronaut who manages to keep the whole thing credible. A classic.
