| The toys belonging to a hyperactive young boy come to life when nobody is looking. Top toy, Woody (a cowboy doll) gets incredibly jealous when a new, bigger, better toy Buzz Lightyear (a space robot doll) gets bought as a birthday present. Initially the two do not get along, but later become friends when they find themselves trapped in a demented child's house. Pixar's first full-length animated movie is a must-see for all. Top marks to Disney as well, who released the film as a DVD/Blu-Ray combo pack. If anyone familiar with the quality of the DVD thinks the Blu-Ray print of the film can't be that much better than the standard DVD then think again! The transition from DVD to Blu is absolutely incredible.~ The Lord Just when you thought it was all over for quality children's entertainment, the Pixar people reinvented it with this hip, funny and warm toy tale. Disney have been irritating me by pulling releases and cynically putting them out before the Blu-Ray DVD format blossoms. -Shrug- buy it anyway. Highest recommendation, easily one of the top 20 kid's movies ever. ~ The Sloth Followed by Toy Story 2 (1999), and Toy Story 3 (2010). |
