A female writer is acquited of murder and then tries to manipulate her therapist doctor into her sordid world of dangerous sex and criminal behaviour. Half-decent sequel which almost never got made due to various reasons; including Sharon Stone refusing to play alongside several male leads who auditioned for the Glass role. Stone also attempted to sue the producers of the movie for lack of earnings as she rejected other projects whilst committing herself to this film despite the fact it wasn't a definite to be made at all. On-screen however, Stone looks magnificent for 48 and returns to give a stellar performance. Michael Douglas did not want to reprise his role, though his character is remembered in the plot, as is Jerry Goldsmith's score from the original film.~ The Lord Sexual mind games part 2 with this attempt to recapture the outrageous decadence of Paul Verhoeven's risque 1992 mystery-thriller. Stone is up to it, but the plot and drab direction let things down. Pity. ~ The Sloth See also Basic Instinct (1992). |
