Homer is troubled by a memory from his childhood after he volunteers for hypnosis at a local club. With the help of friends Lenny and Carl he tries to remember what it was that upset him so much, through a series of flashbacks.

During Homer's recollection of his youth, the episode re-works the events from Stand By Me.
