This time it's Mr. Eko's flashbacks which are the centre of attention. The mystery of the Nigerian drug-runner priests who died in the aircraft in the jungle is revealed when Eko's past is explained. When he finds the Virgin Mary statue on the beach he orders Charlie to take him to the spot where he found it. En route they encounter the strange black smoke which previously made its appearance with Locke, Kate and Jack.
