Michael is hellbent on finding son Walt and even goes to extreme lengths in overpowering Locke to get at the guns for the mission. When this is discovered, Jack, Locke and Sawyer venture out into the jungle to track him down, but are later surrounded by The Others. They have captured Kate and threaten to kill her unless the trio give up their guns in exchange for her safe release. Later, Jack returns to the beach to make a proposition to Ana-Lucia. The flashbacks are about Jack's failure to save an elderly man with a tumour and his subsequent separation from his wife.
