Affable Canadian who came to England in 1944 as a war correspondent, then became announcer and singer with Ted Heath's orchestra. Also did much radio work, before becoming seemingly every American military officer in British films of the 50s and 60s. Died in a dressing room during rehearsals for a play, long before his time, at age 42. One of my favorites.
